I thought it might be fun to show you the extremes of my musical world by giving away two very different tracks…
‘Rank Outsider’ is one of my more acoustic tracks. There’s a bit of piano and japanese banjo (infact an indian instrument) in there as well. The main recording was done using two stereo PZM microphones using a high input level. This captures a lot of ambient noise as well as the instrument being recorded. I love this effect. You can really feel the space.
‘Pace wheels’ is a fast, tight and noisy track. Calling it drum’n'bass might not be exactly true but I guess it’s the genre it sits closest to. It contains lots of action from the ‘Barbie Feedback Machine’ near the end. Crazy sounds come out of that thing! It’s based on a bent barbie karaoke tape player and inspired by the information available from the wonderful ‘casper electronics’. You can read more about his machine here: casperelectronics
Hope you enjoy both the tracks. Any feedback is much appreciated.
These mp3′s are free but if you enjoy them feel free to make a donation. Any money I make will allow me to buy more bandwidth and post up more mp3′s!

without sounding like a geek, the stereo technique used on ‘rank outsider’ really does capture a wonderful feeling of spaciousness
