Muddy fairies at the SAI festival

Mud. Rich, sticky Irish mud. And rain, lots of rain. Somewhat wobbly organization. Not ingredients you associate with a good time yet that’s my experience of the SAI festival. It was a weekend of fun, great music and lots of people up for a party regardless of the weather..

You see the truth is, before last weekend, I was a muddy festival virgin. I think I even told people with glee that you’d never catch me camping at a festival. I’m a bit of a softy. I like my home comforts. So it’s a relief to have survived the experience with some happy memories.

This event was the first gig that the circuit bent sony video machine got used outside Cambridge. The bendy visuals were created by Minimon and looked great projected across three large screens. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get any photos at the time. I’ll stick up a couple of pics if any appear from people. I did see some flashes of cameras whilst we were performing so maybe someone has a snap of the lofi, glitchy colour show. I just love the bent family studio! I think it’s going to become a regular feature of the AOW live show.

I think my set went fairly well. There were a fair few distractions from other people setting up on stage (inevitable due to the way festivals work) so my concentration was challenged a couple of times but I enjoyed playing some of the tunes that were born out of the ‘enter’ setup recordings (now with hifi beats on their crispy lofi foundations) and I hope the crowd there enjoyed the music. The Hin Hon rinsed itself out with its normal awesomeness, spitting out squarewave goodness.

Hmmm, it was quite an experience but it feels good to be back home. Hot running water!
