Ho ho ho, it’s a festive mix

Well hello there, been a while.

I’m going to try posting a few updates over the festive period. We’ll see how that pans out. Believe it when you see it.

Christmas isn’t my favourite time of year by a long shot. Yeah, I’m Humbug on Wheels. However, this year I have at least got into the spirit somewhat by offering up a 49 track slice of audio disorder. Call it a holy mess if you’re that way inclined. It might distract you from the yuletide excuse for moosak that gets pumped into our brains just about anywhere you go at this time of year.

Theo Bard – AoW remix for free

theo_bardThrough the powers of Earl Grey tea I am posting, not once, but twice in a day. Shocking stuff.

Tape‘ is a new label launching on the 24th of September. The same day should see the vinyl release of the first ‘Robots with Hearts‘  ep on Tape with and Animals on Wheels ep fairly soon afterwards. It’s all very exciting.

I recently did a remix for another Tape artist called Theo Bard. He’s a London based singer songwriter with plenty of lyrical talent. His first ep on Tape will contain the original song but my remix is already available as an early bit of promotion for the label. Grab it here:

Something From Nothing

Cloud MountainsTwo sodding months and I’ve posted nothing. Self-promotion isn’t a skill I can say I have in abundance. No. I’m good at hiding and being quiet.

Anyway, someone asked me a while back about the availability of a track of mine that was used on a DVD of Mountain climbing shenanigans. My memory fails me as to the title of the DVD.  Ah well. I thought it would make for a decent enough mp3 download, so here it is:

Good May

conveyerI come bearing gifts. Well, a fresh and free mp3. It’s called ‘Bad May’ and reflects a feeling from a few years back when I did indeed have a Bad May. Very different to the one that’s just running out. It’s been a very good May this year. Anyway, the track is a beaty thing with other sounds in it. Call it trip-hop and I’ll come round and slap you with a cold kipper.

Animals on Wheels – Bad May – 320k mp3

The long range forecast for the UK this summer is for a hot one. I’ve got my fingers crossed this is going to happen. Last year was a summer of rain and distinctly unsummery temperatures so it’s about time we had a good one.

So, just to remind you, my latest ep is out now. Called ‘Dummy’ and limited to 500 vinyl copies with jolly nice card sleeves it contains four tracks of electronic music. Music to stumble to. It’s released by the lovely people at ‘La Madame avec La Chien‘ and should be available to buy from online retailers.

Elektra in Montreal

Venue fogSo I’m playing tonight at the Elektra festival in Montreal. The show is at the Usine C theatre at 10pm if you happen to want to come down for it.

It’s the second Openland live show with a dual screen video show along with my improvised audio twiddlings. I’m really excited about playing here as the venue is fantastic with a very good sound system. Fingers crossed, the show should sound as good as it can be.

I arrived in Montreal yesterday evening and managed to get out to the opening shows of the festival. Feeling really tired and rather disorientated, I got to see the performance of ‘Feed’ by Kurt Hentschlager. It’s an amazing experience of quite extreme audio and visual where the theatre is filled with dry ice (supplied by 20 smoke machines!) and then lit up by strobing, pulsing light. The soundtrack was mostly drone based, with some rhythmic material and plenty of sub bass and it fitted perfectly with the visuals.

If you ever see ‘Feed’ coming to your town then don’t pass up a chance to see it. Well, unless you have issues with strobe lights.
